Tucker and Brussell-Students did a great job on daily 5 today. Brussell was able to work with a group and Mrs. Tucker was helping students at the different centers/stations.

Peden found website cpalms that has resources for units and lesson plans.

Coslow-Goal to use leveled literacy during daily 5 to pull teacher-student group.

Formative Assessments:
-Tucker used exit slip. Noticed students need to add detail to explain their thinking.
-Harris used exit slip. She gathered that students were able to understand 3rd person but not 2nd person.
-Coslow exit slip with notecard. Problem on front and solution on back. Struggling with the biggest problem.
Struggling with higher kids that are getting it. (Suggestions: project, write an example, centers, kid blog).
-Use 50 types of formative assessment strategies we were given to try. Discuss formative assessments that you are using not only at the end of the lesson, but during the lesson.
-Discussion of socrative.com to formatively assess
-Plickers/Clickers
-Formative assessments do not have to be extravagant

Book Review:
Aha moments:
Page 7-
Assumed that kids learn it at home. Not always necessarily true.
Page 9-
Aha moments:
Daughter telling her father to stop being grouchy.
Finding student strength and virtue, and helping them find the niche where they can live these positive traits to the fullest.

Hope-
Student strengths in language.
New staff members and teachers. Very excited and have good energy.
School wide learning and empowering students.
Cognitively vibrant classroom. Teachers facilitate the knowledge.
Committed to kids!!

Regurgitating knowledge. Knowledge is no longer King.
What is king? communication, people skills, creativity, problem solving, etc.
